Prop firm drawdown calculator

Pick your firm and account size, add a few trading days, and watch your minimum allowed balance move under all three drawdown rules — static, end-of-day, and intraday. It's the fastest way to see which one would actually end your account.

How to use it

Three steps

The drawdown rule ends more funded accounts than bad trades do, and most traders never see it coming because the line keeps moving behind them. This calculator makes that line visible.

1. Load your account

Pick your firm and plan from the dropdown and the calculator fills in the real maximum drawdown and method we track for that account — the same data behind our comparison tool. If your firm isn't listed or you want to test a scenario, choose Custom and type your own starting balance and drawdown.

2. Add your trading days

For each day, enter the highest point your balance reached (including profit on open trades) and where the day actually closed. That's the whole trick: intraday trailing rules care about the peak, end-of-day rules only care about the close.

3. Read the three floors

The table shows your minimum allowed balance after each day under all three models at once. A red cell means that rule would have breached your account on that day. Run the same days under each and the difference is usually much bigger than traders expect — which is exactly why the drawdown method matters more than the profit split.

Common questions

Drawdown calculator FAQ

How does this drawdown calculator work?+

You enter your starting balance and maximum drawdown, then add trading days with the highest point your balance reached and where it closed. It recomputes your minimum allowed balance after each day under all three rules — static, end-of-day trailing, and intraday trailing — and flags the moment any of them would have breached the account.

What's the difference between intraday and end-of-day drawdown?+

An intraday trail updates in real time and counts unrealized open-trade profit, so a spike you never banked still raises your floor. An end-of-day trail recalculates once at the close on your realized balance, ignoring intraday spikes — meaningfully more forgiving. Full breakdown in drawdown explained.

Does the trailing drawdown ever stop moving?+

On most futures firms, yes. It trails your peak until it reaches your starting balance plus the drawdown amount, then locks — usually at or near your original starting balance. That's the "lock" checkbox, on by default.

Is it free?+

Completely free, no signup. It runs entirely in your browser and uses the drawdown amounts and methods we track per firm, re-verified weekly.

Which firms use intraday trailing?+

Apex offers both intraday and an EOD Trail account, My Funded Futures uses EOD in evaluation then intraday once funded on Rapid, and Take Profit Trader trails intraday in its PRO (sim-funded) stage. Most others we track use end-of-day — see the table above.
